How overhead line fuse holder Fhp-450 Works

• Normal operation

1. A fuse element (fuse link) inside the holder is connected in series with the protected circuit.
2. Current flows through the fuse element to power the downstream load.

• Overcurrent event

1. When fault current or overload exceeds the fuse’s rated current, the fuse element heats up due to I²R losses.
2. The fuse element melts or opens the circuit at the designed current rating.

• Interruption and isolation

1. The opening of the fuse element breaks the circuit, interrupting the fault current.
2. The fuse holder physically retains the blown fuse and may provide a visible indication that the fuse has operated (depends on variant).

• Fault handling

With the fuse blown, the protected path is isolated. Upstream protection (e.g., circuit breakers) may be required to restore power after inspecting/ replacing the fuse.

• Re-fusing
