Method:

The testing method follows the international standard IEC 60695, which specifies procedures for assessing the tracking and erosion resistance of polymer and other insulating materials. The process involves subjecting material samples to controlled high-voltage conditions, environmental contamination, and humidity to observe the formation of tracking paths, carbonization, or erosion.

Testing Procedure (IEC 60695):

• Prepare material specimens with specified dimensions and surface conditions.
• Mount specimens inside the testing chamber equipped with electrodes.
• Apply a gradually increasing AC or DC voltage until the specified level, then maintain the voltage.
• Simulate contamination conditions such as moisture, pollutants, or salt fog as required.
• Monitor and document surface deterioration, tracking path development, and erosion.
• Conclude the test when tracking occurs or after a predetermined duration, to evaluate material reliability.
